Welcome Pattern Testers!

It seems I have a healthy group of talented people that want to help me perfect my crochet pattern-making skills. I'm really excited and looking very much forward to this! I plan on starting with "casting calls" if I grow attatchment to certain testers it will be due to their timing, photos, and notes. Maybe in the future I will rely on a club of testers, but for now, I want to involve more people! In order to hear about casting calls for pattern testers first, subscribe to this blog! I will post on Facebook as well, but the entries will go up here first.

I have about a dozen unfinished patterns that I know I need to get a move on, and some of them are much closer to being ready for testing than others.

I do have a few questions for you all though:
- What do you look for in pattern writing? Are there things you like and don't like?
- I plan on having shiny pretty PDFs for you that look like glossy magazine pages, do you like lots of photos?
- Do you seem to crochet loose or tight? I'm notoriously loose, but I will be providing gauges.
And lastly...
Which pattern do you want to see first?
Lacy Socks, Leg Warmers, or Chunky Turban Headband?

Better pictures will come when the pattern is finished!!

  2. Socks please. I crochet tight and this might help me get a little "looser". Lots of pictures please!

  3. They all are very cute...tough choice...my tension is pretty standard to gauge (neither loose or tight)..I think the one of the most important things to include on a pattern is the total number of stitches per round. Lots of pics are great. Leg warmers!

  4. I crochet tight, but I am working on going loser, and it seems to be working.
    Lots of photos.
I would love to be a tester as well. I have been crocheting for 17 years and always have at least two or three projects going at once.

  5. I have been crocheting for about 20 years.
-I like patterns which contain crochet counts if there is no accompanying graph.
-Photos are neglible but encouraged! I like to know what the final product will look like and for difficult to read or unusual changes it is nice to have a detailed photo.
-I crochet close to recommended gauge but I do adjust gage depending on my personal preference for certain yarn types. If I am crocheting something which may snag easily or for a child I might use a tighter gauge. Something which is meant to be a bit more stretchy I may crochet slightly looser.
-I like all of the crochet projects. Going into spring and summer I would lean towards the head wrap but the leg warmers and socks are right up my alley!

  6. I like the socks, they seem like a challenge, and I like what Alicia Kaye says about the crochet counts and the photos. I tend to crochet tightly but am working on looser stitches. I am a novice and would like to seek out new patterns to challenge myself in an attempt to improve my craft.

  7. I like patterns with stitch details, even if they have graphs. I prefer to work from stitch details, though I read graphs very well.
I love photos, especially if it is a more intricate pattern. I feel that photos from several different perspectives help tremendously.
I crochet neither too tightly nor too loosely, but I do adjust if I think a pattern warrants a looser (or tighter) stitch.
The socks or head wrap both are lovely starters, with the socks being a bit more challenging!
Thank you for listening! If you have any further questions, I will be happy to answer them. I enjoy the art of crochet immensely and would be happy to help in any way possible.

  8. I like the socks
I actually prefer working from symbols, but they're slowly fading into oblivion replaced by written patterns. Pics are nice & most people prefer them based on difficulty.
I left a message for you on your FB timeline, I would love to do testing for you. I have 46-47 years exp crochet & knit. Have done pattern testing in addition to designing & writing my own, I also do custom commissioned work. I have stitched models for Designers as well as Fiber Retailers.
Hope you have a Super Duper Crochet Day <3

  9. I prefer written directions, over a graph unless it is filet, then a graph is better.
I would like PDF's the more pictures the better that way you can see all angle's of the product so you can see what it looks like.
As for my crochet style I tend to crochet to the gauge and if not then I change the needle to get the right gauge.
I like them all but I think I would like to start with the socks.
Thank you for considering me to be a tester, I do love to crochet and or knit.
